Terms of Use
Last updated: July 2026
The short version: CarerCompass is free general information and self-help tools for family carers, published from Australia but written about several countries' aged-care and support systems. It is not professional advice, it is not written for your specific situation, and it is not written by someone licensed in your country. Program rules change and vary by state, province, and country — always confirm current details with an official local source or a licensed professional before relying on them.
1. Who runs CarerCompass, and what this page is
CarerCompass (carercompass.org) is operated by Digital Treasure Pty Ltd (ABN 23 696 816 636), based in Queensland, Australia. By using this website, you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
2. Geographic scope — please read this one carefully
CarerCompass is written and published from Australia, but covers carer support, entitlements, and aged-care systems in multiple countries — including Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, New Zealand, and Ireland, depending on the page. No single author, and no single page, can be an authority on every province, state, or territory's current rules.
Government programs named on this site (for example Home Care Packages, Support at Home, NHS Continuing Healthcare, Medicaid, NDIS, or provincial home-care programs in Canada) change their rules, funding, and eligibility criteria regularly, and those rules can differ significantly by state, province, or territory within the same country. Information on this site is a general starting point for understanding how these systems tend to work — it is not a substitute for checking the current rules that apply specifically to where you live, with the actual government agency or department responsible for that program in your jurisdiction.
Nothing on this site should be read as telling you what applies in your specific location. Where a page names a country or region, treat that as the relevant scope — and if your situation is in a different state, province, or country, the details may not transfer directly. When in doubt, use the official government links we cite on each page, or ask a locally licensed professional (GP, social worker, aged-care assessor, solicitor, or financial adviser) who knows the rules where you actually live.
3. Not medical, legal, or financial advice
Everything on CarerCompass — including the guides, checklists, entitlement information, and interactive tools — is general information only. It is not medical advice, not legal advice, and not financial advice, and using this site does not create a doctor-patient, solicitor-client, adviser-client, or any other professional relationship between you and CarerCompass, its operator, or its author.
Always seek the advice of a qualified, locally licensed professional with any questions you have about a medical condition, legal entitlement, or financial decision. Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on this site. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately — see our Crisis guide for country-specific emergency and crisis-line numbers.
4. No guarantee of accuracy, and no liability for relying on this site
We try hard to keep information accurate and cite official sources wherever we can, but we make no promises — express or implied — that anything on this site is accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your circumstances. Programs, phone numbers, eligibility rules, and costs change, sometimes without notice, and a page may lag behind a real-world change.
CarerCompass and Digital Treasure Pty Ltd are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or any tool, guide, or link on it. This does not exclude any consumer guarantee or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under the law of your own country (for example, under the Australian Consumer Law or equivalent consumer-protection law where you live).
5. Interactive tools
Tools on this site (such as the Care Coordinator, Entitlements Checker, Medication Tracker, and similar) are self-help aids that ask you questions and reflect back general information based on your answers. They are not clinical, legal, or financial assessments, do not diagnose or treat anything, and are not a substitute for an assessment by a qualified professional or government agency. See our Privacy Policy for how these tools handle your data — in short, most store information only in your own browser and nowhere else.
6. Links to other websites
We link to government websites, helplines, and other external resources, including sister sites we also operate. We don't control these external sites, and linking to them isn't an endorsement of everything on them. We're not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability — if an official link on our site is broken or the information has moved, please let us know.
7. Content ownership and acceptable use
The text, design, and tools on CarerCompass belong to Digital Treasure Pty Ltd unless otherwise credited. You're welcome to read, use, and share links to our pages — that's what they're here for. Please don't republish, scrape, or resell substantial parts of our content as your own without asking us first, and don't use the site in a way that could damage it, overload it, or interfere with other users.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time as the site grows or laws change. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of CarerCompass after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles — but nothing here overrides any consumer-protection right you're entitled to under the law of the country you live in that legally cannot be signed away.
